The Great Gatsby 3D | Coming December 2012

Coming December 2012! The Great Gatsby 3D. New film by Baz Lurhmann. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire. Can this possibly be better than Clayton’s 1974 version with Redford, Farrow and Waterston?

  1. It’s time to reread one of those classics. Unfortunately, we
will have to wait a few more months to see “The Great Gatsby” on the
big screen. The original Christmas release has been postponed to summer 2013. Hopefully
the extra time helps Baz Luhrmann make something as incredible as “Moulin Rouge”
and “Romeo + Juliet.” Though, I wonder how Fitzgerald would react to a
soundtrack along the lines of “Moulin Rouge.” Are we in for a whole number
    about the Eckleburg billboard?

  2. Looks like this will be exciting for sure. I am definitely interested to see 3D used in classic drama like this. My only concern is that the film will rely too much on the effects to create the feeling of hysteria. Farrow did such a good job conveying her character’s tormented emotional state in 1974. From the looks of the trailer, though, DiCaprio will be a much more explosive Gatsby.
